The Club
We walk every Sunday mainly in the Dublin and Wicklow mountains. The Marley Hillwalkers were established in 1993 by a small group who were interested in walking together in the local mountains. Since then we have grown and expanded our horizons and we now have a membership of 85. A close-knit and friendly group, we are active and successful in organising and enjoying good walks. We have some very experienced hill walkers who take a leading role in our club. Some members walk nearly every week while others are occasional walkers.
Some things have not changed over the years such as the camaraderie of our members and our enthusiasm to explore the great outdoors. Together we enjoy discovering new mountain tracks, hidden valleys, meandering streams, spectacular waterfalls and sandy beaches.
Most club members live close to the foothills of the Dublin mountains and bring a vast amount of local knowledge to club walks. You will be regaled with tales of history, folklore and the traditions of the locality as you walk with us.
We strive to maintain the highest level of safe practice on the mountains and members are encouraged to participate in mountain skills training. Each walk is organised and managed by an experienced leader.
There is wide participation of members in club activities all of which are managed by an elected voluntary committee.
